September Serenity

The definition of serenity according to Wikipedia on Google is “the state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled.
“an oasis of serenity amidst the bustling city” . Those words not only define the word serenity but also describe the way I feel about a very special place…

In a few short months I am looking to move to Southern California.  It will be the first time I have moved away from my home state, my friends and family to live completely on my own. I live in a condo currently in Connecticut with my roommate, dog and cat. The first time I ever visited California eight years ago, I knew I wanted to live there. The weather was cool and calming and the beaches where some of the most beautiful I had ever seen in my life. For those who know me well, know I travel a lot. The people where friendly and inviting everywhere we went. The food was delicious but healthy which is difficult to find in the Northeast where “comfort food” is a norm.  It was a place of true serenity and for me…I felt at home. I was at peace there, like it was meant to be.

When I returned home from vacation I quickly applied to University of San Diego. Unfortunately a month later three life changing events including my mother getting sick, I did not get in to the program I had applied for at the university and a pregnancy in the family all occurred at once leaving me feeling like it was not the right time to  leave and make my journey. Fortunately my mother’s health improved and now, I just graduated with my MBA degree from Southern CT State University. Eight years later I am finally ready to  revisit my dream. I want to keep my blog updated weekly with my stories and adventures and to keep friends family connected and also to give others insight and inspiration so I may share my amazing journey with you.  I hope to inspire you to follow your dreams and to check back in weekly to stay updated as I make my transition from the east coast to the west coast…that beautiful place they call California.
